Shipping LCL Cargo from Taiwan to Australia

Import cargo from Taiwan to Australia by LCL – less than a container load – is high-volume business that calls for the engagement of a freight forwarder with the necessary experience and level of expertise. Whether you are an importer, wholesaler or co-loader, you can trust Colless Young to handle your freight with precision and care, ensuring secure transportation and timely delivery of goods.

There are a number of reasons why you might want to ship through our LCL service: you may not have enough cargo to make up your own FCL; you could have ‘overflow’ goods that do not fit into your FCL container; or you possibly buy products from a number of different suppliers in Taiwan that need to be consolidated into one shipment.

To cater for this last scenario, we provide a buyer’s consolidation service. We will coordinate multiple suppliers’ orders and consolidate into one consignment for you, either co-loading into one of our regular weekly containers with other clients’ cargo or, if there is sufficient volume, offer you an LCL/FCL service, packing all your orders in a dedicated container that is delivered to your door.

Colless Young’s comprehensive consolidation services are handled efficiently by our network centres at port of origin in Taiwan, Singapore transhipment hub and all major destination ports in Australia.

We have a range of options, including both direct and transhipment service, and will tailor them to suit your time and budgetary constraints.  For our normal LCL transhipment from Taiwan to east coast Australia, we suggest you allow a month transit time from door to door.

We have regular consolidation services from both Kaohsiung and Keelung. Cargo from various suppliers is transported to a Container Freight Station (CFS) at either port, then consolidated and loaded into containers consigned to Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne.

Kaohsiung Port is the largest port in Taiwan and one of the busiest in the world. It is located in the south of the island and is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities with excellent transportation connections.

Keelung Port is strategically located near the capital city Taipei, in the north, making it an important hub for domestic and international trade.

With a population of over 23 million, Taiwan has the 22nd largest economy in the world, with gross domestic product (GDP) of US$755.7 billion. Taiwan is a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) – as Chinese Taipei.

Australia has a substantial relationship with Taiwan – it was our ninth largest two-way goods and services trading partner in 2023, with trade worth $33.6 billion. Merchandise imports from Taiwan were valued at $9.4 billion, led by refined petroleum, telecommunication equipment and parts, motorcycles and bicycles, computers and inorganic chemicals.

When doing business with Taiwan, as with any Asian country, Australians can run into difficulty if they do not know the language and customs, or the correct way of negotiating business deals. Talk to us if you are doing business there for the first time.

We offer services for Freight of All Kinds (FAK), dangerous and hazardous goods and refrigerated containers. We can arrange fumigation, BMSB treatment and other quarantine support to our valued customers. Call us for an ocean freight quote based on your individual requirements.
