Multimodal Terminal Services

The Brisbane Multimodal Terminal (BMT) has welcomed Seaway’s first containerised train, the start of its weekly service from its Central Queensland Inland Port (CQIP) facility located at Yamala. CQIP is the first inland port in Queensland offering storage, packing and a dedicated rail service to and from BMT at the Port of Brisbane.

The operators are working closely with the agricultural sector as well as other industries which will see chickpeas, sorghum, wheat, cotton, citrus and mining-related commodities utilising the service and moved through the Port.

Other services available at CQIP include transhipment of container and break bulk, warehousing and storage, including cold storage options, cleaning, repairs and inspections of containers, quarantine, pre-assembly, packing, unpacking, repacking and value adding.

CQIP is a purpose built 240ha industrial estate zoned special industry at Yamala, 25km east of Emerald in Central Queensland. Integral to the estate is a freight intermodal facility with direct access to Capricorn Highway and main western rail line.

The intermodal facility is designed for the handling and transfer of freight from one transport mode to another. It is a 24/7 multi-functional; multi user facility that ensures efficient transit of goods and materials imported & exported from the Central Highland region.

The Brisbane Multimodal Terminal is the city’s link between regional locations, road and rail and Brisbane container terminals. The dual-gauge rail link and location of the BMT make it possible to move large volumes of cargo into and out of the port by rail.

DP World explains service issues at Brisbane Terminal.
DP World has issued an advice today (25 May 2023) regarding ongoing service issues at its Brisbane Terminal, which they say are the result of a number of IT/System and equipment outages.

These outages have been resolved and they expect service levels to return to normal into the weekend and next week.

DP World has encouraged importers, customs brokers and freight forwarders to liaise with Shipping Lines – who they “expect will show some leniency in terms of container detention in these circumstances caused by their contracted stevedore.”
