Latest Update from Qantas Freight

In October we reported that Qantas had its cargo operations thrown into disarray due to a malfunction when they attempted a transition to a new cloud-based management system.

Yesterday, Qantas Freight announced that “from 28 Nov 2023, customers will progressively receive invoices for domestic shipments covering the period 24 to 30 Sep 2023. Invoices are being sent via email to the normal recipients for invoices.”

They say that the remaining weekly domestic invoices will be distributed via email at a rate of one to two per week subject to reconciliation timings, with the aim to be back to normal weekly invoicing by late Jan 2024.

Further information from their news channels provides this advice:

Status update
To demonstrate their progress, key metrics tracked by Qantas show:

  • Terminal international backlog volumes and processing times are at pre-cutover levels.
  • More than 75% of drivers are now using Dock Direct to collect their international shipments.
  • International Flown as Booked performance continues to improve. Current performance is at 88% which is in line with September results.
  • Customer service average call wait times are less than 5 minutes.

Collecting freight
For freight that is still in Qantas’ warehouse, customers are being contacted directly to arrange collection. Clients that have freight that has not yet been collected should arrange collection as soon as possible.

Assistance, including Claims
Clients who wish to make a claim for delayed or damaged freight, can do so on Qantas’ “Contact us” page. Time limits on claims and actions apply and can be found in the airline’s international conditions of carriage
