Why You Should Trust Us with Your Shipments from Bali

The purchase and shipment of goods from any overseas location to Australia can come with hidden traps, and this is especially true when it comes to buying from Bali. Many inexperienced importers are prone to making innocent but costly blunders.

We always recommend that you seek professional advice before you buy and ship, checking first and foremost to determine if your target products are restricted or prohibited.

Here at Colless Young we are well aware how confronting the challenges can be when dealing with unfamiliar culture, customs and trade practices in a foreign country. Our international network includes Indonesia and we offer a complete menu of services from Bali to Australia, from the placement of your orders right through to delivery.

The main products we see imported from Bali are furniture, handicrafts, foodstuff and used machinery, which all just happen to be the commodities that attract the most attention from the Department of Agriculture Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF).

These items can include things like:
Animal products: feathers, shells, bones, horns, catgut and rawhide – most drums will be covered in animal skin, for example.
Plant products: bark, basket-ware or unprocessed straw or raw cotton, banana fibre, grass products such as water hyacinth thatching.
Soil: Used machinery, cars, bikes and boards must be cleaned in an approved manner.

Bringing in Shipments by Sea Cargo
In addition to Bali and Lombok, we can collect and arrange shipment from all islands and provinces in Indonesia, and cover major shipping ports such as Jakarta, Surabaya and Belawan Sumatra.
The most economical way to transport your cargo is by FCL (full-container load) either in 20ft, 40ft or high-cube shipping containers.
For smaller orders, we outdo most of our competitors in operating a regular LCL (less than container load) facility between Bali and Australia.

Importing by Airfreight
When your goods are time-sensitive and need to travel by airfreight, our accredited agents are able to collect goods from across Indonesia and despatch from the major airports at Bali (Denpasar), Jakarta and Surabaya.  We are linked in with all major airlines – the national carriers as well as Jetstar and Virgin – ensuring your goods are delivered on time and within budget.

Sourcing, Buying, Packing & Quality Control
Our Indonesian partners are happy to represent you in Bali as your buying agent if required.
In addition to our freight forwarding services by air and sea, we invite you to talk to us about any of these options:

  • Sourcing new products
  • Collecting from multiple suppliers and consolidating
  • Inspection and quality control
  • Packing
  • Storage
  • Quarantine treatment including fumigation
  • Commercial documents including Origin Certificates
  • Shipping documents
  • Landed cost estimates and reports

Should you be travelling to Bali during the course of handling your purchases, our Indonesian partners will be delighted to meet and assist you in every step of your negotiations.

As licenced customs brokers, our resources cover all requirements for clearing your cargo in transit to Australia. We’ll advise you on customs duty rates, GST, import restrictions, tariff classifications and concessions. Biosecurity (quarantine) treatments, inspections and certificates are arranged on your behalf, both at port of origin and destination.
