The 2022 Australian Export Awards were held on Thursday night 24 November by Austrade in Canberra. Our congratulations go to Victorian infant formula company Bubs Australia, who was named Exporter of the Year.
The Australian Export Awards are the nation’s most prestigious and longest-running export awards program, and the awards made a triumphant return to the Great Hall in Parliament House on Thursday evening for a gala dinner, hosted by the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade). Last year the awards were held as a ‘virtual ceremony.’
Eighty-four finalists – all winners at their states’ and territories’ export awards this year – made the nation’s top export awards.
Bubs Australia won the top award on Thursday night. Bubs grew from a Sydney kitchen in 2006, to a leading exporter of organic formula, toddler milks, baby foods and snacks to 10 export markets, including China, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and the US.
In May this year, Bubs stepped in quickly to assist an ally in need, securing approval from the USA’s Food and Drug Administration to ship its infant formula products to help relieve USA supply shortages. Their work to export over 1.25 million tins of Bubs infant formula to the USA as part of the Biden administration’s “Operation Fly Formula” was acknowledged in a statement from trade minister Don Farrell.
Last month we reported on the 84 national finalists, who have each made an important contribution to Australia’s economy. These finalists have collectively employed more than 12,600 Australians and generated over $1.9 billion in export earnings during the last financial year. This is despite dealing with many issues – including logistics and global supply chain disruptions.
