The 2020 Australia–China Agricultural Cooperation Agreement (ACACA) grant opportunity is open from 3 January to 12 February 2020. Â
The ACACA is a treaty-level agreement between the Australian and Chinese governments. It was signed in 1984 to enhance cooperation across agricultural industries, develop the trading relationship, and to provide a forum for the mutual exchange of scientific information between the two countries.
China is Australia’s largest export market for agricultural, fisheries and forestry products. Our agricultural, fisheries and forestry exports to China were worth $15.1 billion in 2018-19 (source: ABARES 2019).
The ACACA program also helps our farming, fishing and forestry industries unlock the new opportunities afforded through the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement (ChAFTA) and China’s growing market.
The program’s objectives are to:
– promote bilateral cooperation and collaboration in agricultural fisheries, forestry and regulatory, biosecurity and food safety cooperation between Australia and China
– develop, improve and augment trading relationships and linkages between Australia and China
– exchange scientific and emerging technology information between Australia and China
Funding is available for activities that enhance agricultural cooperation between Australia and China, including technical exchanges, training programs, conferences, missions, workshops, information exchanges or programs, industry scoping missions and feasibility studies. The ACACA program is an ongoing and competitive grant program, with calls for applications every year, or twice in a calendar year, where funding permits.
There are two funding streams available:
Stream 1 must be for an eligible project activity undertaken in Australia and/or China.
Stream 2 must be for a trade mission to/from China only.
Activities that may qualify for project funding include, but are not limited, to the following:
– technical exchanges
– officer transfer
– attendance at conferences
– working groups
– training programs
– workshops
– research and development
– information exchanges
– feasibility studies
– masterclasses.
