The ATT recognises businesses with a secure supply chain and compliant trade practices, and rewards them with a range of exclusive trade facilitation benefits. Â
In an address at the Symposium’s gala dinner last week, government representatives said the ATT program continues to grow, demonstrating its significant benefits and the competitive edge it provides in global markets. The Australian Border Force Commissioner said the ATT program allows the ABF to provide businesses with the best possible trade facilitation and enforcement arrangements for our nation to thrive. Organisers plan to grow the program to 1,000 Trusted Traders by 2020.
New Benefits for Australian Trusted Traders
Duty Deferral came into effect on 1 August this year and allows eligible Trusted Traders to defer the payment of duty on most goods to a consolidated monthly payment. A single invoice will be generated, sent electronically and automatically deducted.
ATT Origin Advance Ruling will assist Trusted Traders importing goods under the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement. Trusted Traders will be able to apply for a single Advance Ruling for multiple goods and shipments of goods, enabling use of a Declaration of Origin.
Implementation of the Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) with the Republic of Korea will provide Trusted Traders with increased reliability at the border, expedited clearance through reduced documentary and cargo inspections, and measures to reduce disruption to trade flows.
Trader Identification Numbers will allow recognition of Trusted Traders by Australia’s MRA partners, through a unique Trader Identification Number on import and export documents.
An even lighter touch at the border for accredited Trusted Traders, supported through improved processes and systems ensuring fewer border interventions.
