New Requirements for China & Indonesia

As freight forwarders we have been advised by major shipping lines, such as Maersk, and major airlines such as Qantas, that we need to supply them with new additional information prior to lodging exports. Those requirements are briefly summarised here – please talk to us when you are ready to book cargo to these areas.

Sea Freight to China:
Shipper Enterprise Code which
is Australian Business Number (ABN) for Australia.
Shippers full name & address including Telephone & ABN Number (or ACN number) must be shown on the bill of lading.

Consignee Enterprise Code – Uniform Social Credit Code (USCC) of the Consignee is similar to “Tax (payer) Identification Number” (TIN No.). Each USCC contains 18 digits or letters in total. In case of “to order B/L”, please advise tax ID number of first Notify Party.

Consignee’s full name & address including telephone or email address must be shown, along with the consignee’s USCI or OC numbers (business registration numbers).  For private shipments the passport number must be shown instead of the USCI or OC number.

The HS Code with full description of goods must be shown on the bill of lading.

Airfreight to China
Additional information is required for both the Master Airway Bill (MAWB) and House Airway Bill (HAWB). The new requirements for Air Waybills cover three areas: 

Shipper, Consignee & Notify details 
Shipper’s country ISO code (AU for Australia) 
Consignee’s whole name 
Consignee’s country ISO code (CN for China) 

Unified Social Credit Identifier (USCI)  
Additional information must include USCI identifiers. 
– For Australian businesses, this can be the company ABN or ACN
– If shipper is an individual, Passport number or other country-approved and issued photo ID (e.g Drivers License).

Description of goods 
Information must describe the goods being transported must be specific, not generic.
For instance, ‘Agricultural Products’ is not acceptable, specify product, e.g. ‘Strawberries’.  
‘Appliances’ would be unacceptable. Instead you would need to specify ‘TV set’. 
Similarly, “tools’ would be unacceptable. Instead you must specify e.g. ‘screwdrivers’. 

Sea Cargo to Indonesia :
HS Code for the goods description must be shown on the bill of lading (up to 6 digits)
Consignee’s tax code / i.d. number ( CIK / TIN / NPWP) number must be shown on the bill of lading.
Copy of invoice & packing list required
