Supply Chain Disruptions Due to Omicron

Dear Customers

As you will be aware the current outbreak of Omicron is playing havoc with supply chain across all of Australia.  This unfortunately is forcing some land-side supply chain providers to introduce levies to cover the rising cost of pandemic related staff shortages.

Due to both depot and driver short falls we are seeing a major impact on cargo availability of imported goods and delivery from/to the depots .  These shortages are prolonging cartage windows and there is a likelihood that additional charges such as container detention, storage and/or waiting times may be incurred.  We have been asked to provide additional notice for both LCL and FCL bookings and our team is working hard to meet these requirements whilst avoiding additional charges.

Some service providers are introducing a new fee, termed a “temporary COVID recovery tariff” from 01 February 2022.  This is to cover the ever increasing costs of ensuring that everyone has a  safe working environment.  Initiatives such as compulsory Rapid Antigen Testing on all staff and visitors to depots and terminals and the changing of shift handover processes have been put into action.

At this stage our service providers have not notified Colless Young of additional charges and we will be monitoring this closely.  However please be advised that should fee’s be imposed we will have to look to recover these costs accordingly.

If you wish to discuss this further please contact any of our team directly or myself on the below details.

We take this opportunity to sincerely thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter and indeed for your ongoing support.

Please stay safe.

Kind regards,
